What do you mean by "higher protocols"?
Link State Algorithm - the most in use is OSPF - I'd recommend the Cisco Press
book on this. Quite tough reading, but reading RFC's is harder =)
Vector Distance - RIP? Never used this.
You might want Path Vector - BGP - which I spend the most time tweaking =)
"Routing on the Internet" by Christian Huitema, Cisco Press.
I bought Cisco Press books in Powerbooks though I don't know if they are
still there.
BTW since this is routing-related I'm cc:ing to ph-isp. (ph-networkers?)
