Symposium on Developing the Next Generation Internet in the Philippines
The Internet is now evolving into a new type of interconnected community
called the Next Generation Internet (NGI). This NGI will address current
Internet problems such as connectivity, speed, security, and others.
Setting-up the Next Generation Internet in the Philippines is necessary to
support the research and development initiatives and to accelerate the
development of new networking applications and services.
In order to promote awareness of the local industry, academe, and
government sector on the Next Generation Internet technologies and
applications, the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) is
organizing a symposium entitled "Developing the Next Generation Internet
in the Philippines". This will be held on the 25th of April 2001 (Wed) at
PHIVOLCS Auditorium, Phivolcs Bldg., C.P. Garcia Ave., U.P. Diliman,
Quezon City.
This symposium is a good venue for gaining knowledge on the emerging
Internet technologies, establishing linkages with potential partners,
and identifying possible research collaboration. Technical experts from
Japan, Singapore, and the Philippines have been invited to discuss both
local and international NGI initiatives.
