I believe www.simtel.net also has a huge collection of plain MS-DOS
software which you may find useful. If you want to do networking with
it, I think you should try to get the old crynwr packet drivers at
http://www.crynwr.com/, and there's also a list of applications that
use the packet driver. You can experiment with the PLIP packet driver
if you don't have a network card that will work with your little
machine.
