You forgot to mentioned what NIC card you have (e.g.
3Com, RTL, etc.). Try to reconfigure the your linux
kernel, goto /usr/src/linux and run make xconfig,
which opens a window of Linux Kernel Configuration. Be
carefull to do so bcoz it might affect the the entire
system of your Linux box. And be sure everything
