Your question is quite vague. Correct me if I'm mistaken but I will
re-phrase your question as: "How do I prevent local users from viewing
the contents of '/var/named' using 'ls -d'?"
It would probably be helpful if you could explain why you want to do
this. I have the impression that you're approaching a (non-?) problem
the wrong way. Security thru obscurity and all that...
AFAIK, it's impossible to prevent users, with the proper permissions,
from viewing the contents of _any_ directory using stock 'ls'. It
should be possible with the use of a modified version of 'ls' (think
lrk), though. Note that 'ls' is just _one_ way of viewing the contents
of a directory. There are other ways like 'file', 'lsattr', etc.
