what's the error?

1> Connection timed out?

2> Connection refused?


if (1)

then you need to put the ips of your lan in /etc/hosts -or-
set up a nameserver in your gateway box that resolves the reverse IPs of
the hosts in your private network.


if (2), then you did not start the pop3 service. do a

chkconfig ipop3 on
service xinetd restart

on most mandrake/redhat systems
