Well the setup program is a text-based interface to configure a RH box. My
junior sysads use it for ease. Although I myself manually edit scripts and
conf files, sometimes the work load piles up and I don't have time to figure
out where RH placed what where since they seem (someone correct me if I'm
wrong) to rearrange program locations with each major release. I hear they
are trying to follow the linux filesystem standard but with some of their
own "enhancements" (sounds like the way of another OS company in Redmond).
Couple that with the fact that the problem has something to do with a tool
that not only changes its name (ipfwdm, ipchains, iptables?) but also its
config syntax. Thanks, though, i'll give it a peek and a poke on Monday.

Yea, I too long for the simplicity of the old days of Slackware 1.0 :-)

The server is being co-located and managed at our data center for a
government information network project (NORMINET). They want to use
sendmail so our hands are tied. And for the record, I prefer to use qmail.
Procmail may be as secure and as fast (if not faster) than qmail but it is
still an infant compared to qmail's maturity. Those who disagree can send
flames to /dev/null. Maybe someday I'll give it a try. :-)
