Telnet should be dragged into the street and shot till it's dead. Are you
sure you want everyone on your network to learn your root password? I
think it would be far better if you set up OpenSSH (I believe it's bundled
in Red Hat 6.2 already) and use that to log in everywhere instead. At
least then your passwords will be encrypted.
I think that the vast majority of security breaches here at Inter.Net are
caused by crackers sniffing passwords revealed by telnet. We're now
attempting to force everyone to use SSH to log onto critical servers and
preventing people from telnetting into routers, leaving a host PC with a
serial connection to the router and an SSHd for them to do router
maintenance.
