yep, our company uses Globe DSL and we don't use PPPoE
either. the DSL router/modem is the default gateway and we
have a /29 subnet. good enough for 5 IPs; the rest are
masqueraded. by the way, kernel 2.4 masquerading is pretty
good...8)
I think the PPPoE-style connection is used only for those
clients that have dynamic addresses and they are also
required to enter a username/password combo just like
ordinary dialup.
