under Win2k (and presumably XP), raw sockets can be created where the
programmer can hardcode the IP address header of the packet himself. under
win9x/nt OTOH, this "feature" isn't supported by the winsock api, and
consequently the programmer cannot specify the IP addie header in a packet.
i've heard of ip spoofing on win9x/nt (primarily from irc), but i don't know
how they manage it -- but i'm sure it isn't from raw socket programming!
now, when XP does hit the market, with its COMPLETE raw sockets support...
Gibson can be O.A. (over acting) in some of his rants, but he does have a
point in that regard...
