Hello,

I've been using Mandrake 7.0 (with some updates) for a little over a year
now. I installed it in June of 2000. It's about time I upgraded to the newer
versions. My question is, should I upgrade to Mandrake 8.0 or should I wait
for 8.1?

My setup now is:

UDMA 33
/dev/hda1 = 1.0GB Win95
/dev/hda2 = 30MB /boot
(the rest of /dev/hda is linux swap)

/dev/hde2 = 19GB / <--- linux Mdk 7.0 UDMA 66

I have to boot from hda2 because lilo cant boot from /dev/hde1; the UDMA 66
controler hot point HPT366. I'm using 2.2.18 with the UDMA patch.

Will Mandrake 8.0 recognize the HPT366 out of the box or will I have to
patch the kernel? Will I be able to boot from /dev/hde1 once and for all or
do I have to keep my /dev/hda2 = /boot directory?

TIA
