It's the only open-source RDBMS which supports a usable subset of ANSI
SQL89 and SQL92. For example MySQL (the only other decent competition) has
iffy transactional support.

Transactional support. Multi-versioning (just like Oracle!) Speed. The
newest versions can do inserts faster than Oracle on the same hardware.
