You forgot to mention windows 1.0
At Redmond, you'll see plaques reminding one of Win3.0's success, but
like everything else that flops, you won't find any reminder of Windows
1.0
I still have a copy archived, been thinking of installing it under
DOSEMU or BOCHS, but it's a bit of a pain to set up.
Imagine, the filenames are in ALLCAPS and it will run ONLY under DOS 3.3
I once had an idea for a webpage with a section entitled "From 1.0 to
2000", enumerating M$'s blips and blunders in the past. But it soon
became apparent that I'd only be wasting space with their failures.
Besides, how many people really care to know? How many today would
object to the belief that M$ "invented" the mouse? Imagine, your
friendly photocopying company's research labs came out with it.
