Hi,
anyone running a system with FTP, but without system usernames?
I want to put up a web server where users can FTP in their files, but they
do not have accounts in /etc/{passwd,shadow}, the way it is in many mail
systems.
Is sftp (SSHv2's FTP) ready for the Windows-using masses? Last I looked only
commercial CuteFTP had a GUI for it.
how about WebDAV, anyone with experience on the server side or client
(IE "Web folders") side? running that on top of SSL would be good.
the idea is to avoid logging in with cleartext passwords, or if it must be
done, the worst that an intruder can do is deface the website, if there are
no system usernames/id's.
