well, in win98 using the supplied 3Com driverr (i have 3Com U.S. Robotics 56K
modem) i'm able to connect to any isp. one day, i remembered that i had the
same problem trying to connect to our cisco 3600 ras server. back then, after
i connected (in windows) to our cisco ras i saved my modem's setup using using
"at&w0" and have always been able to connect since then. now the same
technique didn't work so i thought what if i saved or used my modem's init
strings kaya? and used it i did.
as you can see, i'm using mutt and gnupg in Gnu/Linux because of the init
strings.
