Let me add some more to this question.
I gave a talk on "Linux applications for the enterprise" during
HP Education Day/Sept 7/Pan Pacific Hotel-SG, and in that same
conference, one speaker talked about "Web services and J2EE".
He was talking about wireless and wireful web access for doing
business (customer-to-business, b2b, etc), where all devices
such as wap-phones, pdas, notebooks, PCs can be used for doing
business over the web. He talked about web servers talking to
existing legacy applications on diverse Unix/MVS systems.
The speaker talked about the following:
soap, uddi, wsdl, xml server, web app server,
linear scalability, load-balancing, auto-failover by clustering,
servlet, jsp, ejb, containers,
model-view controller design paradigm,
struts-jakarta,
packaging: *.jar, *.war, *.rar, *.ear
All that I could do was take notes of all the words that were new
to me. What are all these stuff guys?
PMana
(I have some idea of these: xml, servlet, jsp, *.jar
but the rest are greek to me.)
