#big misconception. The CARD does not run Java.. they're just called "Java
#Smart Cards" because they are PROGRAMMED using a Java app.

Actually, that is a misconception. The Java SmartCard is a specialized
SmartCard with, among other things, a JavaCard Virtual Machine. A Java
SmartCard also contains APIs, and applets, which really are applications
that are stored, and executed by the SmartCard.
JavaCard Virtual Machine implements a subset of the Java Language.
