This part reminds me a bit of VNC, which allows you to retain state from
one session to the next - of course you have to remain logged on and just
close the VNC session. I'm not sure I'd want to be logged on all the time
just for the sake of this convenience - but in case of a local power
outage on a terminal that didn't have a UPS, maybe....
