With both POP3 and IMAP you can store your mail on the server. With IMAP, however, you
can further organize your mail into folders and for centralized storage this is a
vital aspect. UW-IMAP is also known to be resource hungry, for which reason I
recommended Courier IMAP. Furthermore, mboxes are significantly slower than Maildirs
especially as mailbox sizes increase. How many users (simultaneous use) are you
looking at, anyway?
