postfix and qmail are both scalable (so is sendmail)..

postfix has more features ( as in per default) qmail
has patches ..

one thing though something that i haven't seen from
any  other MTA around

qmail+ldap's native clustering support ( pop/imap
session forwarding) http://www.nrg4.com 

this is very good for scalabity i know someone using
it for 2 million users ( a friend in #qmail at efnet )
