not exactly hopeless. we have been able to successfully upgrade redhat6.2 boxes from rpm3 to rpm4 just do the 'rpm --rebuilddb' AFTER 'rpm -Uvh rpm-4.0.2-6x-i386.rpm'. hth, -eric -- �.--. �Enrique D.
