MIB stands for Management Information Base. Think of it as a database of
managed objects that an SNMP agent can track. In this context, it refers
to a MIB *file*, which is simply a text file (format defined in
RFC1213). It contains the OIDs and datatypes the built-in SNMP agent
supports.

You typically feed your MIB file for your device to some network
management software such as HP OpenView, which will allow you to view
and monitor your device.
