This is going to sound harsh, but I assure you that's not my intention. Generally, if you have to ask about writing a suid program, it's a bad idea. It's a bad idea to use suid with CGI, anyway, there are just too many security bases to cover. I would strongly suggest that you seek an alternative method to accomplish the same thing.
