But then again, computer science deals with the abstract matters of
dealing with and programming computers.  It's a branch of mathematics
that concerns itself with automata, languages, algorithmics, data
structures, and the fundamentals of computation.  Programming is sort of
the 'engineering' side of the same.

Put simply, compsci is what you get when you abstract the fundamentals
out of the discipline of programming.  If you like analogies, computer
science is to programming as Newtonian physics is to mechanical
engineering...
