But in the real world... we know Windows isn't stable, nor paying more dollars just to get to a Microsoft hotline is a good solution when a better one exists (not withstanding that one can get it freely and modify its source), and fixing the nasty bugs consumed not only time, but dollars too (when one can just hit the docus after examining the logs, or email the favorite Linux mailing list, ask the local UNIX /Linux guru or go to #linuxhelp to name a few options to diagnose problems with Linux solutions). Apparently, Mr. Guim is not adamant to learn UNIX/Linux as well as he does with a Microsoft solution. (it's too harsh to say that he's ignorant or lying...). The esoteric things that you can do with UNIX/Linux can astonish the close-minded. Can't blame him- Microsoft solutions is easier to setup (initially).Maybe he doesn't mention the nightmare of administering and maintaining one (the real catch) as well as the expenses incurred for MS-sponsored retraining. Or the dumped BSOD which spurts out at random. (which reminds me: the BSOD in Windows XP looks very nice! It now displays more human-comprehensible text and sounds "friendly" too - but it ain't as always...) > > If you are an aspiring consultant, you will never make > > it big learning Linux. I distinctly remember that there was a commercial shown on TV about the lonely server room that runs Microsoft Windows NT server (as in no human was there for months, it said) some years ago. That was to laugh for, as you can't leave one running without the fear it might conk out for no apparent reason. --Paolo ------------------------------------------------------------- Your mouse just moved.
