Hi to all! This is my first try at this NG. I'm trying to install RH7.1 on my Tecra 8100 Laptop with WinME. I have a CD-ROM drive, but no Floppy drive. So, I'm trying to install using a CD. First, I've applied the patch to WinME so that it can have a (real) DOS.
Then, I tried to run Loadlin (using autoboot) from DOS (while booting, pressed CTRL, shift-F5 for the command prompt). The installation reaches (some texts prior to this) "Running Anaconda, probing mouse type, Connecting to X Server..." then halts on a garbled screen (black backround, with vertical red, some blue lines) with the pointer of the mouse functioning. I want to try out a text install, but it seems that it doesn't allow me to do so. I'm expecting for the installation to halt, and give me a prompt, where I can type 'text'. The installation runs without interruption till the garbled screen comes up. Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
