First about the topic: I just did some installations using the latest Testing/Unstable combination the past few days and it's interesting that the /etc/issue file of the new base-files_3.0 states that version. Hehehe.

It's interesting, Paolo, how we use a lot of similar stuff without talking about them (remember them locales? Then now the apt-source). Hahaha. On all workstations here I alternate between the main US archives and the Japanese mirror. Why? Like Paolo said, the Japanese mirror's -FAST-. And once in awhile the US archives are out of touch. But I go back to the US archive for situations where the Japanese mirror's database of files is out of sync with the actual files there. > I can't apt-get to the US debian mirror since they're down for > maintenance (i don't know today, though, but yesterday I can't get > through the US http Debian server). I'm not quite sure if it's the actual US Debian archives that "goes down" or if it's the link to the States. Nontheless, it's "better" to use a mirror to desaturate the main site when possible so I default the systems to Japan. :) > I just browsed the list of packages to be resolved for Woody to be the > next frozen distribution (before being the stable distro in Debian). > 150+ packages! 8 major errors. But the latest Sid installations went pretty smoothly (ie: It Works (tm) and I am Happy (tm)).
