yes guys i know quotas are for housekeeping. but with quotas, when a mailbox reaches that limit, incoming mails to him will bounce with quota error of course.
what i am thinking is a tool/script that would run thru all the mailboxes/accounts/inboxes at /var/spool/mail and then see if a maibox has an 8 day-old or more message, and if there is, automatically purge that in his inbox, thereby the user can't get anymore an old email. my objective here is to teach users to 'regularly or daily' download their emails and don't leave copy on the server. this is very much different from quota. are there such? where to acquire from? thanks in advance -----Original Message----- From: Victor Tayer Sent: Monday, January 14, 2002 1:23 PM Subject: Re: [plug] mail purge if it's for housekeeping, use quotas instead -----Original Message----- From: neuroticimbecile Sent: Monday, January 14, 2002 12:08 PM Subject: Re: [plug] mail purge if the goal is preventing your mailboxes from growing large, people usually just enable quotas for the mailboxes. _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
