My personal opinion to why Linux Desktop Environments like KDE and Gnome *copying* 
Windows desktop environment is because they want that Windows users can easily embrace 
Linux Desktops is they find it very familiar to them and is easy to adopt with.  And 
we are not talking about the techie people here but the people who doesn't care what's 
behind the applications they're using.  By then, it will probably the starting point 
for the non-techie people to try Linux as their desktops.
