These assume that the USB cameras use the OmniVision 511 chip and
technology.

Feeling productive today, I have successfully configured an AverMedia
InterCam Elite and Tevion 9038 web camera to work with Linux! The
throughput of USB cameras is lackluster, but is far better than the
serial versions of products such as Connectix/Logitech's QuickCam.

Configuring the web cams is rather easy. You can either use the included
version of the web cam's driver with the 2.2.x/2.4.x/2.5.x kernels or
download one from the maintainer's website. After that, a recompile of
the kernel is necessary if one of the following isn't present:
- Video for Linux
- USB support (UHCI/OHCI)
- USB Preliminary File system (some drivers need this to work)
- the specific usb webcam driver

Once recompiled, simply load up the drivers (if compiled as modules) and
use an application such as xawtv.

The cameras work flawlessly -- it even has proper sound in support!

All I have to do is position the web cams properly and that's that. :)
