you can use snmp to monitor what's happening on the NIC. use ucd-snmp with mrtg so you can monitor 1 server. do the same with all other servers. then, make a single mrtg config on one machine, which you specify in its mrtg config
Target [combined]: public@server1 + public@server2 + ... + public@servern you can make a single graph with all your server bandwidth usage, then you can pinpoint. in the 3300 3Com, yes there's SNMP, just activate it (you can configure the switch initially by using a console cable used for 3Com routers, then administer it via web if it has IP already). but too bad, i haven't been succesful yet in making that work with mrtg in spite of many tries. -----Original Message----- From: Allan Garcia Sent: Friday, February 15, 2002 1:17 PM Subject: [plug] (no subject) hello guys, is there a tool, should be GPL where you can view breakdown summary of all our server's bandwidth usages? we just want to monitor and identify what particular server is eating our bandwidth. thanks, allan _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
