Only if he's left it in ISApnp mode.

I have lots of old 3C509 cards, and in fact use a pair of them in 
my trust ol' server.  They're great (if you don't need 100 Mbps) --
but it's always a good idea to use the 3Com EtherDisk 3C5X9CFG.EXE
utility to shut off ISApnp mode.
