I believe in an earlier post I said "postfix + uvscan + sophie." Wrong.
What I meant was "postfix + avcheck + sophie."

This setup does everything you describe in so much detail. Suggest you
check it out. sophie is the interesting part: a library and daemon which
spawns a Sophos Sweep, connected to a UNIX socket. Goodbye startup and
fork time.

Everything's in C, so much faster than AMAVIS. Besides which, Sophos can
already scan archives, so much of the code in Amavis (except the MIME
de-encapsulation code) is really a waste of CPU cycles.
