anybody who could fix my problem?

esd, the sound daemon doesn't start automatically at gnome startup. i
already set in the gnome control panel: "Enable sound server startup"
"Sound for events" and "Restore mixer levels of Gnome Mixer" but it
still doesnt start esd at startup. i can hear sounds in gnome if i run
esd manually.the only solution that i can think of is manually putting
esd to start in some init script.

also one more thing:

i cant connect to my DSL account using tkpppoe. as root, i can run
adsl-start to connect but as non root, i cannot. na enable ko na yung
allow non-root users to connect sa tkppoe. i figure it was a permissions
problem so i checked, pppd is already suid as well as pppoe-wrapper. any
ideas what i should check or what the problem(s) may be?

and isa pa palang pahabol:

lahat ng problema na ito ay non existent when the same computer was
running slackware before (same kernel, alsa drivers, and version of
roaring penguin).

thanks in advance.
