hey, jopoy! I assume you have enabled quota support for your FS? If you havent yet, open /etc/fstab, and inside, you will see a line about your specific filesystem and mount device. Mine says something like:
/dev/sdb1 /home ext3 defaults, usrquota 1 2 If you want group quota instead of a user-specific quota, just change the line to say grpquota instead of usrquota. After saving and quitting /etc/fstab, run # quotacheck -auvg but be sure that before you run this line, that quota is turned off by: # quotaoff -a then, after the check, turn quota on by: # quotaon -a If you want quota to automatically run whenever you turn your machine on, edit /etc/rc.config, find QUOTA, and turn it on [or YES, as the case maybe]. To manage group quota, run the command: # edquota -g [group] to set the inode or block softlimit and hardlimit. hope this helps, > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of jopoy > Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2002 5:41 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [plug] disk quota > > > hi! i was wondering if anyone can send me an idiot's guide in > enabling and > managing group quotas. examples would be a great help :) > > i am always receiving the message > > quotaon: using //aquota.group on /dev/hda2: Invalid argument > > > your help is highly appreciated. > > > thanks in advance! > > > > -------- > University of Baguio > General Luna Road > Baguio City > Philippines 2600 > > Phone: +63 74 4423540 > Fax: +63 74 4423071 > > http://www.ubaguio.edu > > _ > Philippine Linux Users Group.
