>From your setup I have a strong feeling you're using a RedHat box whose
pppd package has pppd compiled with the CBCP patch which messes things up.
Your configuration otherwise looks fine. Download the source RPMs of the
RedHat pppd package, disable CBCP, rebuild the package and replace the one
you have installed and everything should work fine. :)
