Yes, we have the "spirit to help and share it to the world", but that also doesn't mean that most of the other people on the main plug mailing list should have to receive messages about "how do I unpack a .tar.gz", and newbies shouldn't get intimidated by messages of a highly technical (or inflammatory) nature. There's a reason why we split the lists - so that people with the patience to deal with newbie questions can deal with them, and the people who already have too much mail as it is can deal with advanced questions if they want to. Besides, some of the discussions on plug get really flamey sometimes. <laugh> We wouldn't want to scare off all the newbies, now would we? So: newbie questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED], oldbie questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED] In retrospect, perhaps it would have been a better idea to make it [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] From all the "That's a newbie question, go post it on ph-linux-newbie!" posts that have been going around, I think it's easier to tell more advanced people to mail to the correct mailing list. Hmmm. It might not be too late to make the shift. What do people think? Please don't post any "I agree" or "I disagree" messages to the mailing list - you can send those votes to me, and I'll summarize it afterwards. Feel free to post "I (dis)agree because of <lengthy reason>, but <lengthy consideration>"-type messages. -- Sacha Chua <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - 4 BS CS Ateneo geekette interests: emacs, linux, wearables, teaching compsci, making games _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
