(Like Sacha I'm keeping this here pending the decision on the PH Linux Newbie mailing list's fate)
Quoting Erick Cababan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > I'm new in this group and probably the only one in this group who doesn't > know much bout linux. Oh, I'm sure you're not the only one. We're all at various stages of newbiehood, anyway. Like Rick said, one day will come when it'll be your turn to answer the questions of a newbie coming into the group so feel right at home. :) > wouldn't be surpirse if some of you will probobly want to kick me my butt out > of this group. I just hope most of you wont. Eck. We generally don't do that. Occasionally we unanimously pounce on people pressuring them to unsubscribe, though. Don't worry, though. So far that seems to only happen to particularly arrogant people, which we hope you won't turn out to be. ;) > For one simple reason, I want to LEARN linux. I know I love the software. While I'm sure a lot of us are glad to hear this, and we encourage you to continue to desire to learn about Linux and the GNU/Linux suite of software, I hope you don't expect us to be at your beck and call as technical support or personal tutors. I'd personally rather see PLUG as a group of peers (albeit with various levels of expertise in various sub-fields of our already specialized niche), around to help each other grow by "osmosis" (as I quote my dear mentor Eric Pareja ;> ). A number of PLUGgers have already given various links to help get you off the ground. I'd like to recommend what I call the JOULFAQ[1]. Please give it a spin and check the links out. Feel free to send me comments by personal email, as well.
