i once did (sort of) to stop me from killing myself. humour me with this
little anecdote...

[anecdote]
when i was starting with linux (Mandrake) i created a little alias named
rem. i assigned him to the nifty command 'rm -rf '. i was happy for a
little while then bash played a little joke on me. i did some compiling
at ~/tmp/sample/ and got tired with it as it was getting late. i figured
i can do some 'home-cleaning' before i go to bed by deleting that
directory. me, being able to type really fast, proceeded to execute the
following command without blinking an eye

  $ rem ~ /tmp/sample [enter]

then i blinked. and blinked again. then i did a ls -l /home and got
this one

[erin@Ronin /]$ ls -l /home
total 0
[erin@Ronin /]$

geee... look at all that space from the partition i once called home....
[/anecdote]

moral of the anecdote: if you start playing with fire, make sure you
know how to handle it properly, and with respect.

*bow*

ciao!
