Some of the ThinkPads, and possibly some Omnibooks as well, should come with
"real" modems. I think the HCL should contain more details.

3Com, although "reasonably pricing" is relative. I do have an old 14,400
v.32bis/v.42bis that worked with OS/2 so should work with Linux. You might also
try http://www.bidshot.com or http://www.ebili.com, although Mozilla was
returning "Document contains no data" on the latter.
