I just found out something quite by accident that's related to this:

    jijo@gusi:~$ telnet gusi.leathercollection.ph smtp
    Trying 192.168.0.1...
    Connected to gusi.leathercollection.ph.

    220 gusi.leathercollection.ph ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
    QUIT
    221 Bye
    Connection closed by foreign host.

Granted, of course, that anybody can change what Postfix says using the
smtpd_banner directive of /etc/postfix/main.cf. But this the default (or
one of the default alternatives) in the Debian postfix package.
