I just found out something quite by accident that's related to this:
jijo@gusi:~$ telnet gusi.leathercollection.ph smtp
Trying 192.168.0.1...
Connected to gusi.leathercollection.ph.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 gusi.leathercollection.ph ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
QUIT
221 Bye
Connection closed by foreign host.
Granted, of course, that anybody can change what Postfix says using the
smtpd_banner directive of /etc/postfix/main.cf. But this the default (or
one of the default alternatives) in the Debian postfix package.
