Here's an answer I wrote just as kernel 2.4 was in prerelease.
Accordingly, a bit of the wording about present-day status is a bit
obsolete (it applied _then_), but should give you a solid understanding
of the technical issue.

As to how much LFS support is provided specifically in RH 7.3's
precompiled code, you'll have to ask them.
