Recently, I just finish a meeting with the director, accountant and auditors, and they finally decided that its time that we purchase a "server". As of next year, we will allocate a small budget for two (2) server. See below:
Server one -- P110,000.00
- For use in sql database
- Mutiprocessor (at least two)
- Portslave for dial in user (is there a cyclades of 20+ additional port?) We have a lot of direct line here (50+) Im planning on using half of it for dial in service.
- 2X of 36g scsi in Raid stripe(I hope the budget can afford it)
- Lastly, Which do you reccomend (HP or Compaq, or the box that qlinux support hehehe), or should I just buy it separately, and assemble it. I list of hardware brand/model would be appreciated.
Server Two -- P80,000.00
- Probably will end up as a small qmail (3000 user) server with djbdns
- 1 processor but I hope i we can still afford a raid scsi on this
I'm not quite sure if the funds would fit or the spec's would do. anyway, they won't buy it till next year November, so I have a lot of time to plan it. grrr (Hey, this is how gov work, don't blame me for this).
