IMHO we live in a democratic country, and everyone has their rights. one of our rights is the right to free speech, and given this we may practice this by sending our dearly elected officials with bright ideas such as these through good old fashioned snail mail, or even through email (for those senators/congressmen who have columns in the newpapers, having email addresses posted).
i know of a few people in the local government of laguna, but i doubt if i might be able to make a difference thorugh my own efforts. maybe someone should try mailing stuff like these to our senators in behalf of the mailing list, or at least the people in support of this idea/proposition. i also really think that the Philippine IT industry needs a much needed and overdue step towards the direction of practical and cost-effective solutions such as Open Source/Free Software solutions. i also think that the government sector should lead this initiative especially because AFAIC they are the biggest beneficiary in this initiative in the domain of saving money and providing efficient services. if not for their own good, then they sould work for the good of the next generation (including mine. ;) well, it is IMHO. chill... ;) -- -=[mikhail]=- _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
