What step did you do? When adding printer on xp... did you click "browse" the network? Try adding the printer manually...
1.) Add printer on lpt port (trick the os for you to be able to install the driver)
2.) Edit the added printer's properties then ports
3.) Add "Standard TCP/IP Port" then choose the printer driver
4.) Cross your finger
Hope this works... had experienced that issue but it was cause by the vlan even with a win2k environment.
1. Run Samba on Red Hat 8 and add printer on Windows
- samba runs fine - can mount subdirs, etc. from PC within same subnet
- Windows XP clients cannot see PC with Red Hat 8
