When I was still using Mandrake 8.1 using reiserfs, reiserfs will automatically fsck after a power failure without the need to prompt me a question during bootup (eg. Do you want to do a filesystem check? sort off). Indeed, reiserfs was somewhat brittle back then. I experienced massive filesystem damages and lots of superblock corruption. I'm still using reiserfs now in Mandrake 9.0 and backs up frequently to CD-RW to be safe. So far, reiserfs is doing fine after several power failures.
