you can take a look at http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org for the different types and
setups for high availability cluster in Linux (LinuxHA). there are numerous ways of
setting one up. they typically depend on the user configuration and his/her 
requirements.

it gets pretty messy if i would have to explain all the combinations online. however,
it is nicely documented above. well, you would just have to take the time to read them.
