Oh my, third time today, another person who is holding out hopes that FTP is still useful as an "authenticated" file transfer protocol. If you aren't doing anonymous FTP (where authentication isn't required), there's no point in using FTP at all. Period. It's dangerous and fraught with problems. I strongly suggest (yet again) that you ditch FTP forever and use SCP or SFTP. Install OpenSSH and use the scp or sftp utilities from there to do your file transfers. Under Win32, you have PuTTY (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) which has SSH, SCP, and SFTP clients. -- Rafael R.
