For those who tried to help me, thank you very much.  I was able to solve this
problem.

For the benefit of those who might encounter this kind of problem, I just
downloaded the 3c5x9cfg.exe utility from 3Com <http://www.3com.com/> itself.

Yes, it's a DOS program.  All you have to do is reboot your system and insert
either DOS or Windows bootdisk and boot.  Once you're already in the DOS
prompt, all you have to do is execute the utility (3c5x9cfg.exe) and follow
what it says.  Actually, that utility automagically detects any ISA based
card(s) in your PC and it will automagically change your NICs configuration.
