this is kinda late... you've actually gotten the card working after
using a DOS program. you could have used <a
href=http://www.freedos.org>FreeDOS</a> instead of using something
from MeSsy (DOS or Windows). OR, you could have gotten this from Dave
Becker's Scyld site: http://www.scyld.com/diag/3c5x9setup.html and
done the thing in Linux. i remember using it often when we had loads
of 3c509s at the office. i -still- like using that card, but we've
shifted to d-link stuff since. i think i would not hesitate to go back
to using 3com stuff if the price is right.
